As a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence, I know all too well the importance of healing and restoration after facing life’s most difficult challenges. At age 15, after revealing the years of abuse I endured, I was informed that as a “victim” I was predestined to live as a statistic. I made a vow to use my life to show others that they did not have to live behind a label or stereotype placed on them because of what they endured. Now is the time to give back what had been given to me – a place and means to heal and be the person I knew I could become. This mission, 30 years in the making, is fueled by passion and compassion. At DeeCilla Comfort Center residents will find shelter from the storms of life that have begun to wear them down and drown them out. We provide tools to give residents a fresh start at life, as they also gain a new vision and outlook on how to walk with God on their new journey.
